  2. Obama doesn't approve of the idea of helping the upper class make jobs for the middle class? Booooo

  3. Agreed. He seems to belive it's the federal governments job to create jobs. Funny i don't see anythign about government getting involved in the market anywhere in the constitution.
Alot of talk about Energy tonight. Seems interesting.

  4. It's unfortunate that even at a town hall debate candidates continue to ignore the "questions at hand." However, I applaud McCain for his answer when he said that "we can't tell someone they'll have to wait for healthcare." That will resonate

  5. Anyone notice the guy with the mustache sitting behind the first woman to ask a question? I think I saw him in a movie once....

  6. In case you're poundering posting and maybe you feel discouraged by Tom Brokaw... I wanted everyone to know you're welcome to take up more than 60 seconds on our forum...

Do I see a Brokaw montage on Stewart's show tomorrow...?

Though I'm happy to a moderator is actually moderatoring... what a thought...

  7. Agree James. The true winner of tonight's debate will be Brokaw.

  8. I missed that Jonathan... think you can get us a screen grab lol

  9. I will say McCain does have a point that he has been bipartisan in the past. He's actually passed bipartisan legislation and worked on it, Obama only preaches it.

  11. Sorry McCain...you propose storing nuclear spent fuel rods in Nevada but refuse to allow it to pass through your home state of Arizona and you want me to think that you believe it's still safe? Or are you must more vulnerable to it and the rest of us with your 72 year old jawl?

  12. Did McCain just ask to get rid of the lights and have Brokaw wave at him...?

  13. Enough of this talk about drilling...didn't we all agree that drilling, in ANWR at least, will take 10-12years and that company's will, unless properly monitored, have no obligation to sell that oil within the US. This is not a short-term solution, it is a long-term escalating committment

  14. Listening to them talk about healthcare makes me even more upset that the sCHIP program expansion plan failed. How can someone vote against (like McCain did) and/or veto (like W) a plan to insure those who don't have the ability to fend for themselves. All men are created equal, but we should protect those who can't protect themselves. Once you're of age, it is a different story, but we, as a nationa, should provide for youth and give them the opportunity to achieve/fail.

  15. Why isn't McCain wearing a flag pin? =(

  16. I personally don't agree with the whole trickle-down theory Andrew and Steve seem to be supporting. It appears to me that the lack of government intervention and moderation in the private sector is what has driven our economy to the shambles it is in now. Regardless, I'm enjoying the setup of the town meeting style debate as well as the presence of a competent moderator :D

  17. Very suprised to hear a democrat mention 9/11. Rudy Giuliani must be throwing something at the TV. But great answer by Obama..."the cost of invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11."

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's actually the second time Obama said "9/11" tonight...

  19. Obama makes a great point about mobilizing the international community around fighting genocide, ethnic cleansing etc., but how do we do that given our diminished standing in the world? We need to take the first step alone, and show that we mena business

  20. great question regarding pursuing enemies. Pakistan is unstable and a hotbed for terrorists. Oh and they have the bomb already.

  21. WOW...strong language by Obama...Kill Osama and crush Al Qaeda...never heard him talk like that before

  22. Overall, I think Obama is making a better impression. He's not fumbling around for words and he's speaking in a more booming, forceful voice. He's showing much more confidence, and that is reassuring.

  23. It's great to know that McCain is bipartisan and at least partially fulfills the "Maverick" card he's been playing but it seems to me that he's alluding to it way too often and using it as a replacement for answering questions. I also think Obama's attempts to counter McCain's mudslinging are taking him down the wrong path as well, he was quite off base answering the question on creating green jobs.

  24. Is it just me or is it appartent the next president of the United States won't be able to tell time..

better yet... Tom Brokaw for President!!!

  28. McCain has been great on these last two questions regarding Afghanistan and Russia...Make them secure and everything else will fall into line (for the first)...Disucssing the scare tactics of Putin for the second. Obama's call for a new Marshall Plan is not dazzling...will leave people wodnering why we should stimulate their economies when ours is in shambles.

  29. Obama appears to be getting a bit...testy

  30. Heyheyhey!

Just tuning into the debate due to a late meeting, so pardon any ignorance of the earlier debate on my part.

Just to throw this out there, I hate CNN's little Women/Men poll.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Then again, I hate everything CNN does. Sorry, James.

  32. McCain is salvaging the area of Boca Raton at the moment

  33. Ok, they need to stop bringing up Achmadinejad and the whole "no pre-conditions" thing because they continuously misinterpret what Obama said. This has to be the fourth time McCain or Palin has brought this up in debate! Ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh, semi-shout-out to Columbia! W00t!

  35. I hate when candidates don't answer these questions. I don't expect my politicians to be infalliable, when they make a gaffee or misspeak, I don't hold them accountable, because I know that I couldn't remember the facts an d figures about every budget ever to pass mt desk...but when someone askes you about somethign you don't know...be honest! I'd rather see that you have the desire to improve than ignoring a chance to admit a fault or a lack of udnerstanding

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hahaha. "You're in the way of my script..."

    ReplyDelete
  37. McCain seemed to be pointing out that he has more experience with the government and military than anything else, really.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't believe I'm about to say this but I'm going to agree with Lauren lol ... the networks need to cool it with the graphics... I don't know if anyone was watching in HD but if you weren't here is what you're missing - MORE GRAPHICS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yay James agrees with me! Haha. It was just silly. When they had Dems/Reps/Ind at the first debate, I found that a bit more interesting/relevant. But men/women just bothered me.
